This is a pretty new concept that “Road Bikes “ have electric motors to give additional power especially to climb hills, travel long distances and have a great ride in the Lake District.

Due to the fact that current UK legislation limits the speed the motor can assist the cyclist to 15 mph these Electric Road bikes have a vast range. Why ? Because most of the time you will be traveling in excess of 15mph therefore not using any battery power. Similarly when freewheeling at any speed the motor is not using the battery.

YOU HAVE TO PEDAL AT LESS THAN 15MPH TO USE THE ADDITIONAL MOTOR POWER.

All these road E-Bikes to hire have 500 Wh batteries which is substantially bigger capacity than most road E-Bikes.

The Trek Super Commute 8 bikes have the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, the most power full available. While the Carbon framed Trek Domane +  has the slightly less powerful Performance Line Cruise motor. The main difference being in turbo where the CX offers 40% more power.

All these Road E-Bikes to hire have the same 4 power settings Eco, Tour, Sport and Turbo via the Bosch control unit which is easy push button.

The distance you can cover on the one battery charge will obviously be determined by the terrain and how these bikes are ridden. I have estimated for a strong cyclist on the Trek Domane + up to 200 miles may be achievable, but on either E-Bike 60-100 miles is very achievable.

The Trek Domane+ is available in a 54 and 56 Carbon frame size while the Trek Super Commute 8 is available in a medium and large frame size.
